Message from the Chairman

I am proud of our team’s resilience and innovation. Our growing presence in global forums and consistent media engagement amplified our influence as a trusted thought leader

The year 2024 marked a turbulent chapter for the Horn of Africa, as the region grappled with escalating geopolitical tensions and persistent internal strife. Sudan’s spiraling conflict and humanitarian crisis, coupled with intensifying rivalries over the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, placed the region at a critical juncture in global security dynamics. Ethiopia’s internal divisions, Somalia’s ongoing battle with insurgencies, and South Sudan’s fragile peace processes
further underscored the region’s volatility. These challenges, compounded by external powers’ strategic maneuvers, demanded nuanced analysis and decisive policy engagement core pillars of the HORN International Institute for Strategic Studies’ mission.

The HORN International Institute for Strategic Studies is a non-profit, applied research and policy think-do tank focusing on research and providing evidence-based analysis and strategic interventions to address political, security, economic, and environmental challenges affecting the greater Horn of Africa region.
