Published March 1, 2026

The year 2024 was both momentous and sobering for the Horn of Africa. It was a year in which persistent conflict, environmental shocks, and shifting geopolitical alignments underscored the fragility of peace and governance in our region. Yet, amid these uncertainties, the HORN Institute remained a steadfast pillar of knowledge generation, dialogue, and policy innovation. Our work this year was shaped by an evolving landscape of challenges that demanded both analytical clarity and strategic engagement. We responded by deepening our research and expanding our convening capacity. From facilitating dialogues on Sudan’s post conflict recovery to contributing to regional maritime security strategies in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, the Institute worked across thematic and Geographic boundaries to provide timely, evidence based insights.

The HORN International Institute for Strategic Studies is a non-profit, applied research and policy think-do tank focusing on research and providing evidence-based analysis and strategic interventions to address political, security, economic, and environmental challenges affecting the greater Horn of Africa region.
